3,000 feet below the oceans’ surface there lives a vast microcosm (no pun intended) of exotic and highly colorful life forms. I had completed a huge save the whales project and decided the tiny guys needed recognition too. This is a 16″x 20″ oil on canvas just begun. Although at that depth, black (I’m using chromatic black), is what you’d see, my black here is for the under-color only. Similarly, there is no blue water anywhere unless it’s colored by pollution, but I decided to provide a blue water representation that I hope creates a more pleasing view. Painting is titled Biome.
I can’t tell yet what the reduced image size of this canvas will look like here. I guess I’ll find out. Normally, my graphics camera gives me gigapixel size images which don’t work for most websites.
