Started blocking in- I want the trees to have an inner warmth and scrubbed in Transparent red oxide. Over that I’ll paint the grey bark. Usually I work back to front but in this case I’m working from the bottom up from dark to light.

Once I’ve covered the entire panel with the block-in, I’ll start refining and adding more detail, starting with the tree trunks.

I’m using Ultramarine Blue, chromium green, Cypress Burnt umber warm, Burnt Sienna, Transparent red oxide, yellow ochre, Chrome yellow, raw umber, Lead white.

I’m a little further ahead, slowly but surely covering the canvas. Now that I have the lower third blocked in I’ll keep working my way up. I’m also going to block in the sky and work my way down and then meet somewhere in the middle.

Making some headway, slowly but surely moving from left to right.
