Hoping to finish this 12×12 oil on canvas board this weekend. I set up and photographed this myself and using the photo to paint from. I know @Naomi . Really need to paint from life and have plans to do so. The matchbox perspective is off just a bit and will need to tweak that. Other than that, not a lot more to do. Using cobalt blue, cadmium red, cadmium yellow, burnt umber, ivory black, and Liquin original. This photograph is much darker than the original painting.

It’s looking good, Connie! Is there any way you can set up this still life and paint the rest from life? Your painting will come to life. I always paint my still life from life. It makes such a huge difference in your observational skills. Also your skills will improve faster.

It would really be a big bother to set this up the way I had it and probably would not be able to get it exactly like I had it before with the light. I definitely will be doing some painting from life. I have set up a smaller area with a directional light that is much easier to work with than the collapsible one I had set up in my tiny studio. It was a real pain with that one to get light from the rest of the room not to spoil the setup. Even had a black piece of foamboard on the ceiling and it still didn’t quite work. Thanks Naomi. Your encouargement to paint from life will defintely be something for me to try again and again.
