Landscape using complimentary color scheme
-
This is my latest painting that I am currently working on. I decided I wanted to work with strong yellows and to make them work I felt I needed to use a strong complimentary color to balance it out. Since purple is yellowโs compliment I created my purple from ivory black and cad red to use as the balance. So, my palette consists of yellow ocher, cadmium yellow, cadmium yellow deep, cadmium red, pyrelene red, ivory black and burnt umber with titanium white. No blue in this one.
I finished blocking it in today and will begin detailing tomorrow. I use black oil as my main medium. It is a drying oil so my painting should be dry in the morning. I use and acrylic ground on canvas and boards because I can apply a good tooth coat on top of it which allows for very good control as you apply the paint.
The painting is a simple design focusing on color and light! I will post updates as I finish different segments. ๐๐๐ผ๐จ
